Doug Rathbone, Chairman of Rathbone Wine Group (RWG) is an experienced public company director.
Under his leadership, Nufarm successfully transitioned from a small Australian business into one of the world’s leading crop protection and seed companies, with operations throughout Asia, Europe and the Americas.
Doug is also a director of Cotton Seed Distributors; AgBiTech; Leaf Resources; B4D; Cann Group and Chia Seeds as well as President of My Room, a children’s cancer charity.
RWG also advises several Chinese companies as well as private equity.
Doug is an honorary life governor of the Royal Children’s Hospital and a former director of the Burnett Centre for medical research as well as a former member of the Rabobank Advisory Board and Board member of CSIRO.
Doug was named the Rabobank Agribusiness Leader of the Year in 1999 and was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2003 for outstanding service to science and technology.
Doug was listed several times in Engineers Australia top 100 most influential engineers, and was awarded the Institute Engineers Australia “Sheddon Pacific” medal for excellence in engineering.
In 2007 he was awarded the “Chemica Medal” by the Australian Federation of Chemical Engineers and in 2006 Queens Birthday honours, Doug was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for service to the community, chemical engineering, and viticulture.
RWG is a family wine business – its labels include Victorian wineries, Yering Station and Mount Langi Ghiran, and Xanadu winery in Western Australia.
